ΥIANNIS BEHRAKIS: Eyewitness to the planet’s wars

A Photo Exhibition with the work of the Pulitzer Prize-winning, legendary Greek Photojournalist Yannis Behrakis, who passed away in 2019, at the age of 58, is taking place at the European Parliament from the 6th to the 10th of February  at the Spinelli 3D – Bar Area.  (Opening 07/02, 17:00)

The exhibition «Yannis Behrakis: Eyewitness to the planet’s wars» is organized by Stelios Kouloglou, MEP, with the cooperation of the family of Yannis Behrakis and includes 50 of the most prominent photographs of the career of the Reuters photojournalist: From the most troubled regions of the planet, to wars, natural disasters, the refugee crisis and other events he covered.

Yannis Behrakis was one of the greatest news photographers and war correspondents of all time, achieving numerous distinctions. Apart from his excellent work in storytelling with the most accurate way, often risking his life, he was particularly influential with his moral contribution. His poignant images often became the means to cause global awareness in a range of issues.

He had stated some years before he passed away: «My mission is to ensure that no one can say “I didn’t know'»…
